“Oban Sunset No. 5”

Pastel on Clairefontaine Pastelmat, approx 60mm x 110mm.

The sunsets in Oban, Scotland are spectacular. In this piece the dark silhouette of the Isle of Kerrera is surrounded by the vibrant, warm colours of the sinking sun.

The colour palette I used for painting Oban Sunset No. 5.

As I use each pastel I put it on a lid (from a plastic yoghurt pot) instead of putting it back in the storage tray. It makes it easy to keep track of the colour palette and not have to identify and find them again among all the others.
